Student answer (Band 5.5)

In todays wolrd advertising has become an essential part of business. Nowadays, many companies highlight the new features and uniqueness of their products to attract customers. This essay will discuss the reasons behind this trend and explain why I believe it is a positive development.

There are several reasons why businesses focus on presenting their products as new and innovative. The primary reason is that when products are new everyone will come and try it for the first time and will check the qualit y of new products. This is because customers are generally attracted to new ideas and advanced features. Furthermore, companies want to stay ahead of their competitors by introducing unique products. For example, they should make their own unique and essential brand for their company. As a result, businesses can increase their sales and attract a larger number of customers.

I strongly believe that this trend is a positive development for several reasons. Firstly, people will taste a new brand. This allows customers to make a difference between ample ot other brands. Secondly, the price shoul be minimum for new customers. For instance, they will buy produts from the same company and it will increase sales and customers for the company. Therefore, this development can have a significant impact on both consumers and businesses.

In conclusion, businesses highlight the new features of their products mainly to attract customers, increase sales and compete with other companies. Although this trend has some drawbacks, I believe that it is a positive development because it will increase sales and customers for the companies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions and state a clear overall view: you consider the trend positive and identify attracting customers, increasing sales, and competing as reasons businesses stress novelty. However, the explanations remain limited, which fits this level of task response. For example, “everyone will come and try it” is a broad claim, and the example about creating a “unique and essential brand” does not show clearly how advertising novelty helps a business. Your positive evaluation is also underdeveloped: the points about trying a new brand and keeping prices low need clearer explanation and support. Develop each main idea with a specific cause-and-effect explanation or a relevant example, and make the benefits to consumers as clear as the benefits to companies.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and your opinion, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “Furthermore,” “Firstly,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the essay. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear because ideas are listed without showing how they connect. For instance, the move from customers trying a new product to companies creating a unique brand is abrupt, and “This allows customers to make a difference between ample ot other brands” is difficult to follow. The conclusion also repeats earlier points rather than drawing them together. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and ensure pronouns and references point unambiguously to the idea intended.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “innovative,” “advanced features,” “competitors,” and “attract customers,” so the reader can understand the general subject and your position. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated references to “new” products, “customers,” and “sales.” Some word choices make meaning unclear, as in “taste a new brand” and “make a difference between” brands; these do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “wolrd,” “qualit y,” “shoul,” and “produts,” which reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise terms for product launches and consumer choice, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mixture of simple sentences and some longer structures, including a reason clause beginning “This is because” and a concession in the conclusion. Most of the message remains understandable, but control is uneven and the sentence patterns are often basic. There are errors in agreement and sentence construction, such as “when products are new everyone will come and try it,” where the plural subject does not match “it,” and “the price shoul be minimum,” which needs a more accurate grammatical construction. Punctuation is also missing after the opening phrase “In todays wolrd.” Practise forming accurate complex sentences and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation; this will make your explanations easier to follow.
