Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, many businesses claim that their products are new in some way while doing advertisments. The main reason behind this approach is to generate sales. I believe that it is an advantage for the companies to grow their businesses. However, I think that this is a negative development as well because they are misguiding people.
In their advertising, companies nowadays usually emphasise that their product are new in some way. The main factor behind this approach is to produce sales and expand businesses. When they show their product with little changes and advancements, customers may impress by them and ready to buy a product. For example, to open a new restaurant in the market , businessmans usually need to focus on the hotel ambiance and minor changing in the taste of food. Consequently, by showing these things in the commercials, individuals usually impressed.
On the one hand, I believe this measure is a positive development for new companies to grow their business. Showing minor changes in the product to people, they may impress by new features and ready to buy it. However, I think that this is a disadvantage for many people because companies are misguiding them. People buy a product just because of its new features. Sometimes, these features are not new but with a little enhancement. Therefore, when people actually use it , it looks and the same.
In conclusion, although several businsses are misguiding people by claiming that their product is a new, with some changes, I believe it helps them to grow their business and this is a benefit for them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions: you explain that businesses highlight novelty to increase sales and give a view that this can help companies while misleading consumers. The restaurant example and the point that features may be only slightly enhanced are relevant. However, the position is not fully consistent: the introduction calls the practice an advantage for companies but also a negative development, while the conclusion mainly presents the benefit to businesses without clearly resolving the overall judgement. Several ideas are repeated rather than explained, and the restaurant example does not clearly show how advertising the changes leads to sales. Develop the consumer impact and make your overall evaluation explicit and consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion, and basic signposting such as “On the one hand,” “However,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the main points. Nevertheless, progression is limited because the reason for emphasising novelty and the positive effect on businesses are repeated in several places without adding much development. The relationship between the restaurant example and the argument is also not made fully clear. Some linking phrases suggest a contrast, but the paragraphs do not consistently build a balanced evaluation. Organise the body around distinct points—why businesses do this, then its effects on consumers and companies—and use references and transitions to show how each example supports the point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the central ideas, including “advertising,” “advancements,” “features,” and “misguiding.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, especially “new,” “product,” and “business.” Some word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “produce sales,” “customers may impress by them,” and “minor changing in the taste of food.” Spelling errors, including “advertisments” and “businsses,” also reduce accuracy. These choices sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow, although the main argument remains understandable. Build a more precise range for discussing consumer appeal and product changes, and check spelling and natural word combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, using clauses with “because,” “when,” and “although,” so there is some variety. However, control is uneven, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction recur. For example, “their product are new” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “customers may impress by them” and “individuals usually impressed” lack the correct verb structure. The sentence “when people actually use it, it looks and the same” is also incomplete or malformed, making the meaning unclear. Work on accurate passive and active forms, agreement, and complete sentence patterns; then proofread punctuation and spacing around commas. Clearer control of these structures would make your ideas easier to understand.
