Student answer (Band 5.5)

Businesses emphasises the coustomer attraction nowadays telling that products are new in some way. In my opinion there is negative development.

To begin with, company showcase its product as new to attract more costomer for purchasing their product. Sometimes product is not good but company shows it good, date is changed on the products neither you can see nor you can think. For instance if a company launches a new smartphone what will happen to value of old smartphone will decrease so if he want to sell his phone will get less value which will lack for him to buy a new one. Moreover, new ones are very costly. Company just want to be profitable than other companies. This is todays competing era.

Furthermore, In biscuts on the name of choclate they are adding color and for making cream, vegetables oil are being used so they have to write creme. According to government if cream is made using vegetable oils there is written creme. If you make cream with milk then you can write cream. Whole game is the packaging which company do to attract you by giving their product at low prices.

This concludes that company should show their products as they are, not to empasize the product in their advertisements. Costomer should choose the product what they want as they do not want to rely or emphasize by advertisements. This marketing strategy directly drives a "throwaway culture," accelerating the depletion of natural resources and creating staggering amounts of electronic and plastic waste as functional products are discarded prematurely.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear negative view and offer relevant reasons, including misleading product claims, the cost of new devices, and waste from replacing functioning products. The smartphone example helps illustrate how promoting new models can affect consumers, while the biscuit example attempts to show how packaging and product descriptions can mislead. However, the reasons are not consistently explained: the link between a product being advertised as new and the claim about changing dates is unclear, and the biscuit example needs clearer explanation of its relevance. The final point about a “throwaway culture” is pertinent but appears abruptly and is not developed. To strengthen the response, explain each reason step by step and connect every example directly to the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs introduced by “To begin with” and “Furthermore,” and a concluding statement. These markers help readers identify the main sections. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. For example, the first body paragraph moves from product quality to changed dates, smartphone resale value, and company competition without making the links between these points explicit. The biscuit discussion also shifts between ingredients, government labelling, packaging, and low prices. Some references, such as “he” after “a company,” are unclear. Organise each paragraph around one main reason, use clearer links between explanation and example, and integrate the final waste point into the argument rather than adding it suddenly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “attract,” “profitable,” “competing era,” “packaging,” and “throwaway culture.” These choices show an attempt to discuss advertising and consumer behaviour, and the final phrase about resource depletion and waste is particularly apt. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning less clear, such as “customer attraction,” “shows it good,” and “the whole game is the packaging.” Spelling errors, including “coustomer,” “biscuts,” “choclate,” and “empasize,” are also noticeable. Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling carefully; for example, describe companies as “promoting products as new” and explain that packaging can “influence consumers’ purchasing decisions.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional example beginning “if a company launches a new smartphone” and a concluding sentence with “as.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. Examples include “Businesses emphasises,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “if he want to sell his phone will get less value,” which lacks a clear subject and has incorrect verb forms. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in “company showcase its product” and “there is written creme.” Practise building complete clauses with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation. Shorter, accurate sentences would make your reasoning easier to follow.
