Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear overall view: businesses promote novelty to attract customers, and you consider this negative when claims mislead buyers. You also mention possible benefits, such as increased sales, business growth and greater public awareness. However, the response addresses the question only partially because these ideas are asserted rather than explained with specific, developed examples. The reasons for emphasising newness could be made more explicit—for instance, how novelty differentiates a product from competitors or encourages consumers to try it. Your conclusion introduces the need for criteria to protect clients, but does not clarify what standards you mean. The response is also below the required 250 words, which limits the opportunity to develop both parts of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph about advertising’s benefits, a paragraph about misleading claims, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify your main position. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the sentence beginning “For example, more revenue allow the business to extand” moves from increased sales to expansion, but the relationship between this and defining products is not fully explained. The fragment “Which will get more reputation” also interrupts the flow. Linking words such as “But” and “In conclusion” provide basic signposting, yet connections between ideas are often mechanical or imprecise. Develop one point at a time and use clear references to show how each supporting sentence relates to the main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “attract more clients,” “profits,” “reputation,” “trust,” and “misleading information.” These choices make your main ideas understandable. However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form and collocation errors make the writing less clear, such as “thier,” “extand,” “miss leading,” and “the advertise.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “define its products or services to the public” does not clearly convey the intended idea of promoting or presenting them. Aim to use accurate topic-specific phrases and check spelling carefully. More precise wording for novelty, competition and consumer confidence would help you explain the issue with greater clarity and flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a clause beginning “whereas” and a sentence explaining that advertising can increase revenue. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships difficult to follow. Examples include “This because they are trying,” which lacks a finite verb, and “more revenue allow,” where the subject and verb do not agree. “The advertise may be inaccurate and may containing” combines verb forms incorrectly, while “Which will get more reputation” is an incomplete sentence. Articles, plurals and punctuation also need attention. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and verb forms; this will make your ideas easier to understand.
