Student answer (Band 5.5)
Currently I am in my early 20's. I can say population of some countries increasing day by day and relatively large numbers are of young adults as compared with the number of old people.
We all know young adults are the future of the society. Young adults have more energy and entusiasm than older people. They are very much pro-active in different social working skills too. We want people with innovative ideas to make our future shine. On other side old people are little bit backdated as far today's technology and they believe in some old school thoughts which is not that much encourageable.
Young midset are very much addaptive by nature, They are happy to take new challenges where an old people are affraid to start new thing. Today's young generation is very much self dependent, they prioratize their work , sacrife their social life , just to grow in career. On other hand young people will choose comfort able life rather than a hectic one.
Ther is one negative point I want to add for young generation that they are very much impatient. They are not stick to one thing at a time, so naturally they start many things but ended up only with few, but our older people believs in sustainability. I can say, today's gneration kids are little bit selfish too, as they choose themselve first than others. We know older people always choose their family's comfort first. So this are the basic difference I can identify, though behaviour is very much person specific thing.
At the end,I can realize that young generation can be the future of our society but older peopler are pillar of our generation because they have experience of many things. So we need both of these generation for the bettermet of our country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the comparison between younger and older populations and give a clear overall view: both generations are needed, with young people contributing energy and older people offering experience. The discussion includes relevant points such as adaptability, career ambition, impatience and family priorities. However, the response does not consistently answer the key question of whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The final paragraph concludes that both groups are important, but does not weigh the benefits against the drawbacks or state which side is stronger. Several claims, such as older people being “backdated” and young people being selfish, are broad and receive little explanation or supporting example. Make your position explicit and develop a few points with specific consequences or examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, paragraphs discussing generational differences, and a concluding paragraph. Ideas are generally grouped by topic, and linking expressions such as “On other side,” “On other hand,” and “At the end” help signal movement between points. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear, and the progression does not build towards a direct comparison of advantages and disadvantages. For example, the paragraph about young people’s self-dependence shifts abruptly to choosing a comfortable life, while the final paragraph introduces the need for both generations without resolving the essay question. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each point to your overall judgement; ensure pronouns and references clearly identify which generation you mean.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “innovative ideas,” “self dependent,” “challenges,” “sustainability,” and “experience.” These choices show an attempt to discuss social qualities rather than relying only on basic terms. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or informal expressions make the meaning less precise, such as “old school thoughts,” “backdated,” “social working skills,” and “choose comfort able life.” Spelling errors are also frequent, including “entusiasm,” “addaptive,” “prioratize,” and “bettermet,” which can distract the reader. Aim for accurate collocations and more neutral academic wording, and proofread spelling carefully. More precise terms would also help avoid sweeping descriptions of either age group.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including clauses introduced by “where” and “though,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, control is inconsistent: errors in articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries occur throughout. Examples include “population of some countries increasing,” “an old people are,” and “they start many things but ended up only with few.” Some sentences also join contrasting ideas with commas rather than clear punctuation, as in “Young midset are very much addaptive by nature, They are happy…”. These patterns sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the intended relationship. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and consistent tense, and use shorter, correctly punctuated sentences before attempting more complex structures.
