Student answer (Band 7.0)
In Present time, there are many countries who's citizens consist of more young population than the older people. It is clearly beneficial to have a larger share of youth than elderly citizen. However, there are some drawbacks of more young people in a country. This issues can be dealt with proper planning.
Furthermore, There are significant advantages of having more young population in a country. There can be more labours available for all kind of field work. Hence, the country does not require to outsource the work. In addition, in tough times or in situation of war, there won't be a shortage of soldiers. Apart from armed personnel, the youth of the country can also deal with cyber warfare using advanced technologies. In this context, more young people can be part of government that leads to more mordernized policies that support innovation, entrepreneurship and research.
Nevertheless, there are few disadvantages of the same. The more number of young citizen, the more employment needs to be generated in order to accomodate the youth. If the youth is left unemployed they can be much more harmful for the countries overall growth and law and order management. This unemployed youth can get invovled into petty crimes and illegeal activities causing major damage to the society. Thus, a proper employement plan should be enforced for these many number of young individuals. Moreover, lacking elderly people in many fields can result in unexperienced or less experienced leaders and members. Undoubtedly, there is dire need of seniors to train and pass their knowledge to the upcomming generations. There can be many situations where a country may need a senior experienced persons point of view and advise. In such situations this ratio can be problematic.
To conclude, it is very much beneficial for a country to have more youth than older people. The country can expect an overall growth in all fields like technology innovation, medical and research. There can be more youth friendly government that impacts the overall well-being of a country. Clearly, the number of advantages outweigh in all aspects needed for gowth and success of a nation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic benefits of a large labor force and the potential for innovation. However, some points are slightly underdeveloped; for instance, the argument regarding 'cyber warfare' is mentioned but not fully linked to the broader demographic context. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points and reinforces the writer's stance. Overall, the response is well-structured and fulfills the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, such as the benefits of youth or the risks of unemployment. Cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'In addition', 'Nevertheless', and 'Thus' are used to guide the reader through the argument. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, ensuring that the progression of the argument remains easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate and allows for clear communication of ideas. The student uses some topic-specific terms like 'entrepreneurship', 'innovation', and 'cyber warfare'. However, there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'mordernized', 'accomodate', 'invovled', 'illegeal', 'upcomming') and minor collocation issues (e.g., 'more labours available' instead of 'a larger labor force'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band score. Expanding the range of vocabulary and ensuring accuracy in spelling would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is an attempt to use complex sentences, but they are often marred by grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'there are many countries who's citizens consist of' (should be 'whose') and 'the more number of young citizen' (should be 'the greater the number of young citizens'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are occasional errors with capitalization and article usage. Despite these frequent minor errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the response, and the grammar does not significantly impede the reader's understanding.
