Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, In many of the countries youth population is increasing in large numbers as compared to older people. I believe the advantages are more than disadvantages.

The major advantage of having large young population is that there will be good workforce. The many people are available to work. This will give benefit to the companies more as people will be interested in doing job and companies will get benefit from it. They can also bring the new business ideas and new working skills. They will also help the government in contributing to the economy by paying tax. The countries economy will also be boost as large number of people will start their own business and will give the employment to other people this will also help in employment generation.

However, this situation can also create certain problems. The more young people means more employment will needed and the government can not be able to give the jobs to all the people. It will create a massive problem in the country. The government will need to introduce the new schemes for the people to get the job. The more young people means can sometimes increased in the crime rate as if the people are not having job they will do crime to make money and this can create the problem in country. The educational institutes will also face problem while taking the admissions as more students will apply for the college.

In conclusion, the more young people can give the benefit to the country and it will boost the country's economy. However there are some problems but it can be outweigh with the proper solution for it. The young population can help in creating a new business and it will also help the government.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of a large youth population. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'new business ideas' is mentioned but not elaborated upon with specific examples or logical depth. The position is clear, but the arguments lack the necessary extension required for a higher band. The conclusion attempts to summarize the main points but remains repetitive. To improve, you should focus on providing concrete examples or more detailed explanations for each point raised, ensuring that the link between the youth population and the resulting economic or social outcomes is more explicitly articulated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'The many people' and 'The more young people' are used in a way that disrupts the flow. While there is a logical progression from advantages to disadvantages, the transitions between sentences could be smoother. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the essay would benefit from a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect ideas more naturally. Improving the variety of cohesive devices will significantly enhance the overall readability of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. You rely on basic terms such as 'good', 'benefit', and 'problem' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'give the employment to other people' instead of 'create employment opportunities'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or topic-specific vocabulary limits the score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic terminology related to economics and demographics, and focus on using collocations that sound more natural in an English-speaking context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'In many of the countries youth population is increasing' (missing articles), 'the government can not be able to' (redundant modal verbs), and 'it can be outweigh' (incorrect passive voice). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with sentence construction that make some parts feel disjointed. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and ensuring that complex sentence structures are grammatically accurate.
