Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary era, young adults represents an important demographic group in a country. In some nations, the population of young people is comparatively more than those of older individuals. I believe that the benefits of this trend are more significant for a country's development than its potential drawbacks.

On the one hand, the major merit of this trend is that younger adults are more physically and mentally efficient in case of innovation and creation. As young individuals can develop new ideas and are aware of new technologies. For instance, at the time of pandemic COVID-19, a young adult had discovered the new vaccination. Therefore, young generation have ability to develop new innovations in every domain such as healthcare, technology and environment, which eventually foster the economic dynamism of a country. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the essay is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence in the second body paragraph. This prevents a full discussion of the disadvantages and a balanced conclusion. To improve, you must ensure you complete the task by providing a full counter-argument and a summary. The ideas presented, such as the economic benefits of a young workforce, are relevant, but they lack the depth required for a higher band score due to the unfinished nature of the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay shows a basic logical structure with an introduction and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'To exemplify this' to link ideas. However, because the essay is incomplete, the overall progression is interrupted. The paragraphing is appropriate for the content provided, but the lack of a conclusion and the abrupt ending hinder the flow of the argument. To improve, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that you include a concluding paragraph to tie your arguments together.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'demographic group', 'economic dynamism', and 'grey population'. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'in case of innovation' (should be 'in terms of') and 'a young adult had discovered' (should be 'young adults discovered'). The vocabulary is generally functional and allows your meaning to be understood, but it lacks the precision and variety of less common lexical items that would be required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('young adults represents' should be 'represent') and article usage ('at the time of pandemic' should be 'during the pandemic'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent use of articles and plural forms.
