Student answer (Band 6.0)

A country with more young adults than older people has a unique setup. This situation brings both clear benefits and certain problems, but the advantages are generally greater.

The biggest benefit is a strong economy. Young adults are ready to work, earn, and spend money. This active workforce helps businesses grow and increases tax money for the government. For example, countries with many young people, like India, see rapid growth in technology and new businesses. Young adults are also creative, quick to learn new tools, and highly adaptive. Furthermore, a younger population means less immediate spending on healthcare and pensions, which usually cost a lot in aging societies.

However, there are some challenges. If a country has too many young people but not enough jobs, unemployment rises. This can cause frustration and social problems. Additionally, governments must spend a lot of money quickly on universities, housing, and public transport to support them. A young workforce might also lack the deep experience and wisdom that older workers offer.

In conclusion, having a large number of young adults is a major advantage. While it puts pressure on governments to create jobs and infrastructure, the economic growth and innovation they bring outweigh these problems. With the right planning, a young population is a nation's greatest asset for the future. So I believe that government needs to intitate some measures to control on population where they have more people. So that new generations youth can work and learn new things. Also they have to implement particular age for work in the country whcih includes both older people and younger people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, covering economic growth and innovation as benefits, and unemployment and infrastructure costs as drawbacks. However, the conclusion introduces new, somewhat tangential ideas regarding government population control and retirement age policies that were not previously discussed in the body paragraphs. This weakens the overall development of the argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that all points mentioned in the conclusion have been fully explored and supported within the body of the essay, rather than introducing new concepts at the very end.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'However', and 'Additionally' are used effectively to guide the reader through the argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the benefits from the challenges. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, the final paragraph feels slightly disjointed due to the introduction of new, underdeveloped points. Improving the transition between the main argument and the final summary would enhance the overall flow and coherence of the piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is sufficient for the task and allows for clear communication. You use some good topic-specific terms like 'active workforce', 'aging societies', and 'infrastructure'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly repetitive or simplistic phrasing, such as 'clear benefits and certain problems'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and less common lexical items. For example, instead of 'big benefit', use 'significant advantage'. The spelling error 'intitate' and 'whcih' are minor but should be avoided through careful proofreading.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'control on population' (should be 'control the population') and 'new generations youth' (redundant). Punctuation is generally fine, but there are minor slips in sentence construction in the final paragraph. To achieve a higher band, focus on increasing the variety of complex structures and ensuring greater accuracy in preposition usage and word order. The majority of your sentences are understandable, but more error-free complex sentences are needed for a higher score.
