Student answer (Band 5.0)

In this scientific era of technological advancement we find ourselves in the modern world, where the population of young adults is substantial increase then the number of older people, and this type to scenario was made once in a blue moon.

It is crucial that different people have different mindsets, and level of intelligence, and perceptions regarding the given statement.

I will discuss pros and cons in detail in upcoming paragraphs, which will lead us to the final conclusion.

There are two groups: Group A, and Group B.

According to Group A, it is beneficial for future because young people have innovative ideas, to solve complex global problems then the older people.

In contrast, the people of group B support that its a wake up call in long run for government to take necessary action regarding the situation, because in future the numbers of older people is about to obsolete.

In conclusion, I support the opinion of Group B, because according to perception, Its a wake up call for global population authorities to take an strategic action regarding the given statement, because the older people have a bunch of experience regarding most of the matters of society, because over their age, they experience many scientific and global issues, and they know how to tackle with those types of issues in more efficient and effective ways then the young people, furthermore the old people are blessing of God, and they always makes best to help and support young generations to become an good resource for their homeland.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt but fails to develop a coherent argument. The introduction is vague and does not clearly state a position. The body paragraphs are underdeveloped, relying on a strange 'Group A/Group B' framing rather than exploring the advantages and disadvantages of a young population. The conclusion introduces new arguments rather than summarizing the preceding points. The ideas are presented in a fragmented manner, and the overall response lacks the depth required for a higher band score. The position is not consistently maintained throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks logical progression. The use of 'Group A' and 'Group B' is an artificial and ineffective way to structure an argument. Paragraphing is present but the content within the paragraphs is disjointed. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and often incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'because' to link clauses. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors, making the text difficult to follow at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often used incorrectly. Phrases like 'once in a blue moon' are used inappropriately in this context. There is frequent misuse of collocations, such as 'take an strategic action' and 'numbers of older people is about to obsolete'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the repetition of basic words hinders the quality of the writing. The student struggles to use less common items accurately, leading to confusion in meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the numbers of older people is'), article usage (e.g., 'an strategic action', 'an good resource'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, lacking proper punctuation. While there is an attempt at complex sentence structures, these are almost always faulty. The lack of control over basic grammar significantly lowers the score, as the errors are pervasive throughout the text.
