Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, some countries have higher population of younger adults than the older ones. It has positive aspects because younger individuals are more productive and creative that can contribute to the economic to the society. However, they are less experienced which would make more mistakes. In general, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
On one hand, adolescents are more productive because their physical well-being is better comparatively especially for labour-work such as heavy-lifting. On the contrary, elderlies are generally poorer in health as they may suffer from arthritis or high blood pressure problems. Therefore, the younger people are more competitive to contribute much workforce. Moreover, youths are more creative because they can generate more fresh ideas. For example, some of the informative technology companies would like to recruit younger employees since they are more innovative in exploring new apps to help people which increase the business. As a result, they help to improve the economics of the society.
On the other hand, younger people have less experienced and might not be as knowledgeable as the older people. Older people accumulate life experience for decades which is very precious and they gain more knowledge that can pass to the younger generation. For instance, some cooperation would hire older people for management because they know how to deal with complexed situation and more calm when facing difficulties. Moreover, they can pass the valuable solutions and wisdoms to others. Therefore, business would prefer employing older people instead of youths working at management levels.
In conclusion, nations with higher younger population can enhance the economic aspects while they are not as experienced and knowledgeable as the older people. Consequently, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages due to the improvement in the monetary side.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of having a large proportion of young adults in a population, and clearly states a position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as mentioning IT companies and management roles. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise or remain slightly under-developed, such as the brief treatment of older people's health issues. Overall, the response meets the criteria for Band 6.5 or a solid Band 6 as it covers the prompt adequately, presenting a clear position throughout, though development is sometimes limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is structured logically into an introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'On the contrary', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to signpost the progression of ideas, though some transitional phrasing feels slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct arguments. Referencing is generally clear, though minor instances of awkward linking occur, placing this response firmly in the Band 6 territory where information and ideas are coherently arranged with clear overall progression, despite occasional faulty cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'productive', 'innovative', 'accumulate', and 'monetary side'. However, there are notable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'higher population' instead of 'a higher proportion', 'labour-work' instead of 'manual labour', 'elderlies' instead of 'the elderly', and 'complexed' instead of 'complex'. Furthermore, the phrase 'contribute to the economic to the society' contains a grammatical and lexical mismatch. While communication is never impeded, these inaccuracies restrict the score to a Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilising relative clauses and conditional-like structures successfully in places (e.g., 'since they are more innovative in exploring new apps'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues and word form errors such as 'younger people have less experienced' (instead of 'less experience' or 'are less experienced') and 'wisdoms' (a countable usage of an uncountable noun). Punctuation is generally fine, but the presence of persistent grammatical inaccuracies places this performance at Band 6.
