Student answer (Band 5.5)

The rise in the number of youngsters have become a controversial topic in the contermporary decades. There is a debate about whether the young generation is beneficial or detrimental for soceity if we compared it ito the senior citizens. But I have taken a stance that advantages in respect of being active, global collaboration , better use of technology outweigh the disadvantages and will support my view with credible examples.

To begin with , youth of any country plays pivotal role in development of nation and in shaping the aspects of life. Firstly , they are active and can perform well in every field of life . Secondly , they know well about the advancement in technology and they are using this in every field of life like in resturants , education , healthcare just to save their time. Thirdly , they have new ideas related to buisness which lead to international relations and as a result economy of that state climb up. For instance , a data collected by ARY News in 2025 which highlighted that countries having less elderly people had 45% more progress ratio.

On the flip side of coin , mostly aging people are not energetic because they suffer from different diseases including diabeties , heart issues , weakness whic increase medical costs for their well being. Moreover , older people depend upon pensions which is provided by government which affect the economy and low funds will be provided ffor other facilities. In addition, number of workers decline as a result pressure on youngsters increases. For example , a survey by WHO in 2024 showed that taxes were not paid by 30% of elder generation which had serious imapct on government.

In a nutshell , in few countries , the population of young generation has topped the chart as compare to aged people , but i fully endorse my view that pros of former one in terms of energy , advancement , overseas linking overshadow the cons.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student successfully addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position and discussing both advantages and disadvantages of having a young population. The introduction states a definite stance, and body paragraphs outline relevant points such as energy, technological adoption, business innovation, and economic pressures related to healthcare and pensions. Ideas are extended with examples, such as referencing a data point from ARY News and a WHO survey. However, some arguments border on generalisation and could benefit from deeper elaboration. Overall, the response meets the requirements for a Band 6.5 to 7.0, earning a solid Band 6.5 due to slight under-development in a few supporting points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing separating the introduction, advantages, disadvantages, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, such as 'To begin with', 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'On the flip side of coin'. However, some mechanical or faulty phrasing occurs, such as 'On the flip side of coin' (missing article) and referencing errors. Logical progression is generally maintained, though the transition between ideas within paragraphs can occasionally feel abrupt. Paragraphing is used sufficiently, placing the essay comfortably in the Band 6 category.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, attempting less common items such as 'pivotal role', 'global collaboration', and 'international relations'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors (e.g., 'contermporary', 'soceity', 'resturants', 'buisness', 'imapct') and occasional awkward word choices or collocations (e.g., 'progress ratio' instead of 'growth rate', 'overseas linking'). These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional or relative clauses. However, there is a recurring pattern of grammatical errors, particularly subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'The rise in the number of youngsters have become', 'which increase medical costs', 'which is provided by government which affect') and missing articles (e.g., 'plays pivotal role', 'in few countries'). Punctuation spacing errors are also frequent around commas. Because errors are noticeable and occur across a variety of sentence attempts, the grammar score is capped at Band 5.5.
