Student answer (Band 5.5)

In contemporary world, their is a huge debate between large number of people saying some of the counties has the enomous population of youth more than in comaprison to older citizens.Yes, the advantages of this situation outweigh the disadvantages.

First and foremost, youngster plays a vital role in the development work. One of the major advantages of having a high population of young people in the county is that their will be large number of manpower in the nations. Development work can be done real quick in comparison to nation who have less youth population. For instance, australia is a country who have a large number of young people. Whereas, Nepal is a country who have less amount of adults .Both of the countries have different situation. Australia is banding young people from entering while nepal is seeking for young individuals.Due to less manpower the development activities of nepal is not completed yet. Therefore, having adults is very significant for the nation.

On the other hand, there are some disadvantages of this situation as well.If the poopulation of young citizens is larger then the elder one their will be difficulties in preserving cultures and traditions of countries. As older residents have more knowledge and information related to culture tradition there will be no people left to preserve them.In additions, adaptions of modern trends will increase. Young people does not have interested regarding ancient heritages this days which lead to extension of socials norms and values.

In conclusion, although having number of youth has several benefits, it also has a specifics drawbacks as well. In my perspectives, a balanced approach is necessary to maximize its benefits while minimising its negatives effects.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of having a large youth population and clearly states a position that advantages outweigh disadvantages. Main ideas are introduced, such as economic development and manpower benefits versus cultural preservation issues. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and relies heavily on broad generalisations rather than deep elaboration. Examples provided, such as comparisons between Australia and Nepal, are relevant in intent but lack accurate factual grounding and detailed explanation. The conclusion nicely reiterates the stance and calls for a balanced approach. Overall, the task response is adequate and satisfies the prompt's core requirements, aligning well with the descriptors for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Progression of ideas is attempted, moving from economic benefits in the first body paragraph to cultural disadvantages in the second. However, cohesive devices are occasionally mechanical or faulty, such as the abrupt transitions and some awkward phrasing in linking sentences. Referencing is sometimes unclear, for instance with pronouns like 'their' and 'them' lacking precise antecedent clarity in places. Paragraphing is present and functional, but overall cohesion suffers from repetitive structures and minor connective lapses. These characteristics place the response firmly in the Band 6.0 category for this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'enormous', 'manpower', and 'preservation'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling throughout the text. Examples include writing 'their' instead of 'there', 'counties' instead of 'countries', 'comaprison' instead of 'comparison', 'youngster' instead of 'youngsters' or 'young people', and 'extension' when 'extinction' was clearly intended. While these errors do not severely impede communication because the writer's general meaning remains understandable, they restrict the lexical score. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic arguments, warranting a Band 5.5 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability to build compound and complex clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, and pluralisation. Notable examples include 'their is a huge debate', 'youngster plays', 'there will be large number', 'nation who have less youth population', and 'Young people does not have interested'. Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent, particularly around commas and periods. Although these errors rarely completely block comprehension, their high frequency across the text prevents the response from achieving a higher band. The control of grammar aligns best with Band 5.0 descriptors.
