Student answer (Band 5.0)

Currently, there are significantly more number of younger generation than the older generation population prevalence in some of the counries around the globe. In my opinion, I believe having adults in the country is beneficial for the nations around the world.

The age group between 15-20 is considered to be the younger generation population. The young helps in contributing the GDP of the country in the future. After graduating, they tend to participate in different sectors of the employment and businesses. They contribute in creating employment, generating incomes and finally helps in the overall development of the country. For example, In Nepal and India, the adults involve in certain types of work and activities within and outside the country that helps in the flow of revenues for the government which ultimately utilized for the development of the country. They actively participate in different economy oriented tasks which attracts revenues for the leaders of the government.

Another important advantages of having large number of adults is the independent of the nation to other nation in terms of employment and other sorts of development. For example, currently Japanese governments demanding youths from other countries to work for their country due to the decrease in the younger population in that country. They seek younger ones for their works completion. The adults contribute to develop the country in times of need. They can create workforce for the country which makes the country independent.

In stark contrast, having large number of adults in the country benefit the country in overall growth of the company. The economic growth can only be achieved with the involvement of adults in the workforce. The older people is retired and donot contribute in the upliftment of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the perceived advantages of having a large young adult population, mentioning economic growth and national independence. However, the position is sometimes obscured by weak expression, and the final paragraph contradicts itself by starting with 'In stark contrast, having large number of adults in the country benefit the country...' but then reiterates the same advantages rather than presenting disadvantages. Ideas are extended with examples from Nepal, India, and Japan, but the overall task response lacks balanced and fully developed counter-arguments, which limits the score to a Band 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into four paragraphs with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, demonstrating some overall structure. However, logical progression is occasionally hindered by abrupt transitions and repetitive phrasing. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or awkward, such as 'In stark contrast, having large number of adults in the country benefit the country in overall growth of the company.' Referencing is also inconsistent in places, leading to a mechanical feel. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires better management to achieve a higher band, making Band 5.0 appropriate.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent word choice and collocation errors, such as 'younger generation population prevalence', 'adults involve in certain types of work', and 'independent of the nation'. There are also spelling errors like 'counries'. While the student attempts less common vocabulary such as 'upliftment', 'revenues', and 'workforce', inaccurate application restricts the lexical range to a minimally adequate level. Communication is maintained despite these errors, aligning with the Band 5.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control is weak. Frequent grammatical errors occur throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the young helps', 'older people is retired', 'revenues... which ultimately utilized') and missing prepositions or articles ('Japanese governments demanding youths', 'for their works completion'). Complex structures are often faulty. While the meaning is usually retrievable, the density of errors places the writing firmly at Band 5.0.
