Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of having a large population of young adults compared to older people, referencing countries like Japan, Singapore, China, Nepal, and India. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times unclear due to expression issues. The position is somewhat discernible regarding the necessity of supportive government policies, but the arguments are not fully extended. For instance, the mention of family concepts and foreign takeovers in Japan and Singapore lacks sufficient supporting detail to be fully convincing. Consequently, the performance aligns best with Band 5, as it addresses the task partially with limited idea development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The text is divided into paragraphs, but the overall progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by poor transitions and unclear referencing. Phrases like 'some this that huge youth make trouble' and abrupt jumps between nations impede the flow of reading. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'On the other hand' leading into a paragraph that continues discussing similar economic impacts rather than a distinct contrast. Referencing pronouns like 'them' and 'their' is frequently ambiguous, making it difficult to track what the writer is referring to. Overall, the organizational structure shows significant weaknesses, fitting the Band 4 descriptor well.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary is basic, repetitive, and often misused, which severely strains the reader's comprehension. Expressions such as 'youth of every country decided the GDP', 'big figure of youngsters either than elders', and 'pen and copy' demonstrate a lack of control over standard word choice and collocation. Spelling and word formation errors are frequent throughout the response, such as 'tanagers' instead of teenagers and 'Srilanka'. While the writer attempts to use some less common words like 'employment' and 'investment', inaccurate usage prevents the lexical score from rising higher. This performance reflects Band 4.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The text features a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences almost invariably result in severe errors. Run-on sentences and missing verbs are pervasive, as seen in 'Those countries how have over populations of their tanagers they face their career related problems'. Punctuation is faulty, and basic subject-verb agreement is frequently violated, such as 'governments not make beneficial plans' and 'countries are increase their nation'. Grammatical errors are so frequent that they constantly strain comprehension and distort meaning, placing the response firmly at Band 4.
