Student answer (Band 5.5)
The population of some nations, in this contemporary social landscape, contains more young ones rather than the older people. This is a need of time because young blood is moulding this world towards modernization. Therefore, in my opinion the advantages of this situation outweigh its drawbacks.
The first and the foremost reason why I think so is the need of young people in the modern areas of development. For example, many industries like cotton industry, poultry industry and sugar industry need young boys for many posts to run their business. Older people, on the other hand, cannot perform such tasks in a proper and an organized way. Moreover, young adults can provide financial support their families as well. They can work more hours than older people and thus can earn more than them. Therefore, they can prove an asset for a country and can boost its economy.
In Contrast, some people believe that more young people is a symbol of over population as it can create a big problem for a country in future. They assert that some policies should be promoted by government to reduce population of their nation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The student attempts to address the prompt by arguing that a youthful population brings economic advantages such as industrial labour and family financial support, while briefly acknowledging the counter-argument regarding overpopulation. However, the response is incomplete due to a significant under-length issue, stopping abruptly at the end of the third body paragraph. Because the word count is only 194 words against the required 250-word minimum, the development of ideas is curtailed and the conclusion is left unfinished. This severely restricts the level of task completion. Therefore, the response falls into the Band 5 category for Task Achievement due to its limited and under-developed ideas resulting from the incomplete length.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays some basic organisational structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a failed attempt at a conclusion. Cohesive devices are attempted using transitional phrases like 'The first and the foremost reason', 'On the other hand', 'Moreover', and 'In Contrast'. However, referencing and paragraph progression are somewhat mechanical. Furthermore, the abrupt ending of the text prevents a fully coherent progression of ideas across the whole essay. Paragraphing is initiated but not carried through effectively. Overall, the structural control corresponds to a Band 5.5 score, showing an emerging ability to organise text despite the truncation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary suitable for discussing demographic trends and employment. Phrases like 'contemporary social landscape', 'young blood', 'modernization', and 'boost its economy' are used with some success. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation issues, such as 'young ones rather than the older people', 'need of young people', and 'provide financial support their families' (missing preposition). While the vocabulary attempts to go beyond basic terms, the noticeable errors and restricted range place this criterion firmly at Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'The population of some nations, in this contemporary social landscape, contains more young ones rather than the older people.' There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings throughout the text, including missing prepositions ('support their families') and articles ('more young people is a symbol of over population'). Despite these errors, they rarely impede overall communication, and the sentence structure shows some variety. This balance of mixed structures and frequent minor errors is characteristic of a Band 6.0 performance for grammar.
