Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, the populace of few nations have more of the youngsters as compared to the elder people. Although this situation can create certain challenges, I believe that the advantages are greater because a young population can contribute significantly to economic growth and social development.

On the one hand, the major advantage of this viewpoint is the contribute to economic growth. This is due to fact that a large cohort of working-age adults expands the active labor force, boosting productivity, manufacturing, and national output. Another major benefits of this is the social development. To clarify, Young adults adapt quickly to digital tools, modern workflows, and new technologies, driving faster modernization and entrepreneurial activity. Therefore, youngsters can contribute to the nations development.

On the other hand, the drawback of this point of view is High Unemployment. To justify, If the job market cannot expand fast enough to match a surging workforce, it can lead to widespread youth unemployment. Another disadvantage is Risk of Social Instability. To justify, Persistent joblessness and lack of economic opportunity among restless young adults can sometimes trigger social unrest or rising crime rates. Thus, it results in drawback of the country.

To conclude,While the structural pressures on education and job markets are real, they are transitional challenges. The long-term vitality, workforce dynamism, and economic power generated by young adults give countries the tools needed to build prosperous, innovative societies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The student addresses both advantages and disadvantages of having a young population, presenting a clear position that the advantages outweigh the drawbacks. Key arguments such as economic growth, technological adaptation, unemployment, and social instability are identified and supported with explanations. However, the response falls short of the minimum length requirement, containing only 231 words rather than the required 250 words. This under-length impacts the full development of ideas, restricting the score according to IELTS guidelines. To improve, the student must expand their supporting points with richer details or additional examples to comfortably exceed the word count threshold and ensure comprehensive task fulfillment.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response is organized into clear paragraphs, following a logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides of the argument, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as "On the one hand", "On the other hand", and "To conclude". However, the logical progression is occasionally hindered by repetitive transitional phrases like "To justify" used consecutively, and some referencing is slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is generally appropriate, but the internal cohesion within the body paragraphs could be smoother to achieve a higher band descriptor.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common collocations and phrases such as "active labor force", "entrepreneurial activity", and "social instability". However, there are noticeable word choice errors and awkward phrasings, such as "the populace of few nations have more of the youngsters", "the contribute to economic growth", and "it results in drawback of the country". These minor inaccuracies do not impede overall communication, but they prevent the writing from reaching the higher bands which require greater precision and flexibility in lexical choice.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures like "If the job market cannot expand fast enough...". There is good control over punctuation in many places, and communication is rarely impeded by grammatical flaws. However, noticeable errors occur throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ("the populace... have") and missing articles or prepositions ("due to fact", "contribute to the nations development"). Because errors persist and simple structures outnumber fully controlled complex constructions, the grammar fits the Band 6 profile well.
