Student answer (Band 5.0)

Everything that have advantages also do have its disadvantages. Here in the given topic a problem is given in which, many countries of the world have a relatively large amount of the young adults or teenagers than the older ones or the ones with great experience and talent. This situation also carries both advantages and disasvantages. On the advantages side there are several such as the younger adults do have more strength and working ability and capacity as compared to the older ones, whom now had been retired and not that much capable of doing huge work. Another advantage is that these younger adults are mostly from Gen Z or Millineals. They are more aware and fond of Internet and the Artificial Intelligence as comapred to the older generations that make them superior in the work and the methods of using AI. On the other side there are also disadvantages of the greater population of younger adults than the older ones. One of the disadvantage is that these newer younger adults are lacked of experience that these older ones have as they had spent their life in this world facing all the difficulties and the problems. Another disadvantage is that in these new generations when a child is born he/she is been introduced to the socual media nd the mobile phones which makes the thinking ability and the mental ability of these childrens less as compared to the okder generations. This results in the greater mental disabilities such as Depression and Anxiety which leads in different problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt partially by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of a population with a large number of young adults. However, the position is not always clearly sustained, and the ideas presented are somewhat limited and under-developed. For example, while the writer mentions physical strength and familiarity with AI as advantages, these points are stated rather than extended with clear examples or logical consequences. Similarly, the disadvantages regarding a lack of experience and mental health issues caused by social media are introduced briefly without deep exploration. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to fully develop each point with specific explanations and maintain a clear, well-supported position throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation in the essay, as the response is divided into an introduction and clear sections for advantages and disadvantages. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the transitions between ideas feel abrupt. Cohesive devices are used rather repetitively and sometimes inaccurately, such as relying heavily on basic connectors like 'On the advantages side' and 'Another advantage is that'. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, which disrupts the flow of the text. Paragraphing could also be managed more effectively to separate distinct ideas more logically. To improve, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure a smoother logical progression from one point to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate to discuss the topic, but the range is limited. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'generation', but this is accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation, such as 'disasvantages', 'lacked of', and 'socual media'. These lexical inaccuracies occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to expand their vocabulary range, use less common lexical items with greater precision, and pay closer attention to spelling and word forms to ensure clear and natural expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on repetitive patterns. When the writer attempts complex sentences, they are often faulty, featuring frequent errors in grammar, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Examples include 'Everything that have advantages also do have its disadvantages', 'whom now had been retired', and 'when a child is born he/she is been introduced'. These frequent errors can cause difficulty and strain for the reader. To improve, the writer must focus on mastering basic sentence structures, improving verb form accuracy, and reducing grammatical errors across the text.
