Student answer (Band 5.5)
The advantages of the current situation in some countires comprising the larger population of young adults than older people definietly outweigh the disadvantages based on various reasons like phsycial changes, adaptability, skills etc. Although there are visible disadvantages like maturity and experience in this case but it is not more that the benefits we can get out of it.
The debate comprising young adults and older people regarding how befitting and benefiting one generation is than the other can reach a tie like situation in multiple cases. However, as the world moves forward with technology it needs people that can walk hand in hand with it which definitely works in favor for the younger generation. On the contrary, the experience and knowledge an older person has through his time on earth is also noteable worthy.
Younger generations are like the sun of a country that can change the trajectory of the country anytime by all means. The younger generation we are looking at are more hard-working and justice seeking than the generations before them. Nowadays, a country's youths can even hold the power to change the entire government establishment and throw out the fascists. If we bring out the Bangladeshi context then the July's mass uprising of 2024 is one of the most memorable action that was inacted by the students and young adults. To throw out a government that was not keeping their oaths and were losing their morals in terms of providing justice, the youths of Bangladesh showed bravery by marching to the roads with all their might evne their lives. Such heroism is the result of the presence of the younger generations and their mindsets. Alongside that, they are more skilled in technology and adapted to work with it, which carries an immense role in a country's development. Younger genrations tend to be more patient, dedicated and physically fit as they like to follow the current trends and keep a check on their health. They are willing to learn anything and everything which is what a country needs.
Whereas, if we look at the older generation their teachings can be inexpensive since they have lived life longer and more crossed barriers. They have gathered skills and experience by walking through all the hurdles of life which made them what they are. As a result, they carry a past which can be both valuable and irritable. As many older people do not like to adapt to the newer trends and accept the current ethics they tend to cause problems in those work sector that needs a fresh outlook. The older generation are stubborn in their thoughts, needs and work process which causes the country to lag and eventually fall behind. They are also physically and mentally weaker causing them to suffer at a job that can be solved easily.
Overall, all the evidence can support the claim that a larger population of young adults can outweigh in advantages than that of the older generation so this shouldnt be a problem for a country as it can rather serve as a benefit

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of having a large population of young adults compared to older people, and presents a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the paragraph detailing the advantages is well-supported with a relevant and detailed example from the Bangladeshi context, specifically the July mass uprising of 2024, demonstrating good task engagement. In contrast, the discussion of the disadvantages is somewhat more generalized, focusing broadly on the stubbornness and slower adaptability of older generations without providing equally robust specific examples. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to ensure that both sides of the argument receive a more balanced level of detailed elaboration and extension throughout the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion that state the writer's position. Information and ideas are generally organized logically, moving from an introduction to arguments supporting the advantages, counter-arguments regarding the disadvantages, and a final summary. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct main points, such as the dedicated paragraph for the younger generation's contributions and the subsequent paragraph analyzing the older generation. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Certain cohesive devices and transitional phrases are awkward or repetitive, such as the overuse of 'Whereas' to start a paragraph and phrasing like 'On the contrary, the experience and knowledge... is also noteable worthy.' Referencing within and between sentences is occasionally unclear, which prevents the progression of ideas from being entirely smooth. Greater variety and more natural integration of cohesive links would elevate this aspect of the writing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items and subject-specific terminology such as 'trajectory', 'fascists', 'uprising', and 'fresh outlook'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that detract from the overall precision. For example, 'countires' and 'definietly' contain spelling mistakes, while terms like 'phsycial', 'noteable worthy', and 'inexpensive' (likely meant to mean invaluable or instructive) show poor word choice and collocational control. Additionally, phrasing such as 'reach a tie like situation' is unnatural. These lexical slips and inaccuracies are characteristic of a lower intermediate level, as they occasionally cause slight confusion for the reader. Expanding the control of collocation and refining word formation will be essential for lexical improvement.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writing exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting sophisticated multi-clause structures such as conditional sentences and relative clauses. There are, however, a number of grammatical errors in punctuation, verb forms, and prepositional usage. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues and awkward article use, such as 'march to the roads with all their might evne their lives' and 'lag and eventually fall behind'. Punctuation is also weak in places, particularly with run-on sentences lacking appropriate comma placement or conjunctions, such as 'the July's mass uprising of 2024 is one of the most memorable action that was inacted'. Despite these errors, the meaning remains mostly clear and communication is rarely impeded. To achieve a stronger grammatical profile, the writer needs to enhance accuracy in complex sentence construction and eliminate recurring slip-ups in basic sentence mechanics.
