Student answer (Band 6.0)
Right now, the number of young adults is relatively higher than that of the older people in the population of some countries. In my opinion the advantages of this situation outweigh the disadvantages because this means there will be positive impact on the population and there will not be lack of skillful people.
First of all, due to high number of young adults there will not be any decline in population. As there are many young people most of them will be single, so there is a high possibility of getting married and having children to increase population. Take Japan for example, there the majority of people are old people and less young people due to which Japan's population is declining steadily. That is why having more youths is beneficial for the population of a country.
Furthermore, having more youths also benefits the economy of the country. As there are more people, there will be no shortage of skillful individuals who will contribute to the economy and the development of the country by making their country self-reliant. For example in Germany there is a huge shortage of skillful personals that is why it is asking the people around the world to come and work in Germany.
In conclusion, my opinion is that there are more pros of having a high number of young adults relative to the old people than there are cons. As they help in maintaining and increasing the population as well as economy and employement of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you argue that a youthful population brings greater benefits, and you give two relevant reasons—population growth and economic contribution. The Japan and Germany examples help illustrate these points. However, the disadvantages in the question are not discussed, so the comparison implied by “outweigh” is not fully established; explain at least one drawback, such as pressure on education or employment, and weigh it against the benefits. Some claims also need fuller support: the link between young adults being single and having children is unclear, and the Germany example does not explain how a larger young population would address the skills shortage. The response is 243 words, seven words below the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the task prompt are not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate benefits, and a conclusion restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. This is a solid organisational foundation. To make the links more flexible and precise, avoid relying mainly on these formulaic transitions and show more explicitly how each example supports the claim before moving to the next point. For instance, the Germany example is introduced as evidence of a skills shortage, but its connection to the advantages of a youthful population is not made clear. A paragraph addressing disadvantages would also make the comparison more balanced and the argument’s progression more complete.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “declining steadily,” “contribute to the economy,” and “self-reliant.” However, the range is somewhat limited, with repeated use of “young,” “people,” “country,” and “population.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “skillful personals” and “more pros,” while “employement” is misspelled. These do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Aim to use more exact terms for demographic and economic ideas, and check spelling and common word partnerships. This would help you express the same points more fluently without relying on repeated general vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a comparison with “relative to.” Most of the meaning remains clear, and the sentence forms show some variety. There are, however, some errors in articles, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “due to high number” needs an article, and “there will be positive impact” also needs one. The sentence beginning “As there are many young people” is joined to the following idea with a comma, creating a run-on structure. In “there is a huge shortage … that is why,” separate the clauses with appropriate punctuation or a linking word. Review article use and clause boundaries while continuing to practise complex sentences.
