Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You address both sides of the question by identifying economic growth as an advantage and pressure on jobs, education and housing as disadvantages. However, the response does not clearly answer the key question of whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages: the opening only says that people hold different views, and the conclusion does not state your own judgement. The ideas are also minimally developed. For instance, you mention India’s growth in IT but do not explain how a large young population contributes to it, while the disadvantages are listed without examples or consequences. The response is 139 words, below the required 250, so there is not enough development to fully address the task. State your position clearly and support each main point with explanation and a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages and one on disadvantages. The contrast marker “On the other hand” helps signal the shift between the two sides, and “For example” introduces an illustration. However, progression is limited because the ideas within each paragraph are mostly listed rather than linked through explanation. The final sentence says the problems can be solved, but it does not connect this point to a clear overall judgement about which side outweighs the other. Some linking is mechanical, and punctuation and spacing make boundaries between ideas harder to follow. Use clear topic sentences, develop each point in a logical sequence, and add a concluding paragraph that directly answers the question.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a basic range of relevant vocabulary, including “economic growth,” “skilled worker,” “competition,” and “education and housing,” so the main topic is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “new technology” and “job creation.” However, the range is limited, and frequent spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Examples include “longe hourse,” “counrties,” “foreducation,” and “inv esment” (investment). Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “produce good” and “growing very fast IT.” Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for employment, economic development and public services. More precise vocabulary would help you explain your ideas clearly without relying on repeated general terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both short statements and a few longer sentences, including the conditional structure “if a country has too many young adults…” and the clause beginning “which makes life more stressful.” This shows some effort to vary sentence forms. However, the range remains limited, and errors in basic sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, articles and punctuation are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “some people is think” has an incorrect verb pattern, “Young people energetic” is missing a verb, and “the government may not able” needs “be able.” The sentence “They work can for longe hourse” also has faulty word order. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then extend them with clauses such as “because” and “which.” Check that every sentence has a subject and a correctly formed verb.
