Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, in some countries of the world the population of young adults have a large number ascompared to the number of older people. While this demographic trend has some drawbacks. But I think its advantages are greater than disadvantages.

On the one hand, the are some drawbacks of a large number of young adults in the country. Firstly, the government should have to manage the jobs opportunities for the young people and invest a heavy amount in the education system for the youth. In multinational companies, there is a need of the experienced people but the young adults have not much experience. The companies have to give the job to the freshers. Thats why there is a small number of older and experienced people to guide the younger generation.

However, the benefits of having more young people are more significant. The main advantage is the economic growth. Young generation are more energetic and innovative. This is a era of the technology and specially the AI. So, we should know the features of the technology for a successful life. Teachnology and internet are the most significant features in every aspect of the life. Young adults are more adapable, they can easily understand the features of the technology. A young teacher can bring new teaching methods and new digital skills to the classrooms. This can make easy understanding of the complicated subjects for the students. Young people are more open to change and cultural diversity. which makes society more progressive and vibrant.

In the conclusion, the advantages of more young generation in a country are greater than disadvantages. Because young adults can grow the society rapidly with the help of technology.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you argue that the benefits of a younger population outweigh the drawbacks, and you address both sides. The points about pressure on employment and education, alongside young adults’ contribution to economic growth, adaptability and technology, are relevant. The classroom example also helps illustrate one benefit. This meets the task well, but the development is uneven: the disadvantage about limited experience is asserted rather than explained in detail, and the link between a youthful population and broader economic growth remains general. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of these points and support them with a specific example, while making the comparison between the advantages and disadvantages more explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to disadvantages, advantages and a conclusion. The contrast signposts “On the one hand” and “However” help readers follow the argument, and the main ideas are grouped into appropriate paragraphs. Some connections are less controlled, however. “While this demographic trend has some drawbacks. But I think…” is an incomplete contrast followed by a separate conjunction, and “which makes society more progressive” is detached from the preceding sentence. The conclusion repeats the position but adds little synthesis. Use complete linking structures, connect each supporting sentence clearly to its main point, and make the final paragraph briefly weigh the two sides rather than simply restating your view.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “demographic trend,” “economic growth,” “innovative,” “cultural diversity” and “digital skills.” These choices show some range beyond basic everyday language. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing awkward: “jobs opportunities,” “Teachnology,” “adapable,” “young generation are,” and “a large number as compared to” are examples. Some expressions are also vague or repetitive, such as “features of the technology” and repeated references to “young adults.” Aim for more precise, natural combinations and check spelling and word forms carefully. For instance, “employment opportunities,” “adaptable” and “technological skills” would express your ideas more accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the explanation beginning “The main advantage is the economic growth” and the example about a young teacher. The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries and clause structure remain. For example, “the population … have” should use a singular verb, while “Young generation are” needs a different determiner and agreement. “While this demographic trend has some drawbacks” is a dependent clause presented as a sentence, and “which makes society…” is an incomplete sentence in this context. There are also missing or incorrect articles, as in “This is a era.” Practise checking each sentence for a complete main clause, then review subject–verb agreement and article use.
