Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all categories and years, making relevant comparisons between the time periods. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in your data reporting; for instance, you stated that the percentages for 2006 and 2013 were 'exactly the same' for several categories, but the chart shows slight variations. To reach a higher band, ensure that your data points are precise and that you avoid over-generalizing when the data shows subtle differences. Overall, the response is well-structured and addresses the prompt effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Meanwhile' and 'However' to link ideas effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the data by time periods. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions between sentences could be more sophisticated to avoid a slightly mechanical feel. For example, the connection between the 2006 and 2013 data could be more fluid. Overall, the information is presented in a coherent manner that is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'illustrates', and 'recorded'. However, there are some awkward phrasings, such as 'daily fast-food eater' (should be plural 'eaters') and 'on everyday basis' (should be 'on a daily basis'). You also repeat certain structures, which limits the flexibility of your lexical range. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase', 'decrease', and 'percentage' to avoid repetition and demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'the proportion of individuals who ate fast food daily was the relatively lower' (should be 'was relatively lower') and 'the figures for once-a-week and once or twice a month fast food eater were' (should be 'eaters were'). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and pluralization. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your accuracy.
