Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have identified some data points, the report lacks a clear overview of the main trends and fails to make meaningful comparisons between the categories. The inclusion of personal opinions regarding the healthiness of fast food is irrelevant to an Academic Task 1 report, which should remain objective and data-focused. To improve, you must describe the overall trends (e.g., which category was most popular) and ensure you provide a comprehensive summary of the data provided in the chart rather than listing isolated figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response lacks logical organization and progression. There is no clear paragraph structure, and the ideas are presented in a disjointed manner. The use of cohesive devices is almost entirely absent, making it difficult for the reader to follow the relationship between the data points. For example, sentences like 'Different ratio in every day or a week or a month, year is to eat fast food' are confusing and lack necessary linking words to connect them to the previous information. To improve, you should group related data into distinct paragraphs and use transition words such as 'in contrast,' 'furthermore,' or 'meanwhile' to guide the reader through your analysis.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'ratio' and 'eat fast food,' which are used repeatedly throughout the text. There is no attempt to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated,' 'remained stable,' or 'accounted for.' Furthermore, the word 'ratio' is used incorrectly in several instances where 'percentage' or 'proportion' would be more appropriate. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to data description and avoid repeating the same phrases in every sentence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as fragments and run-on sentences (e.g., 'Frequency of eating fast food restaurants among people in the USA 2003 to 2013'). Articles are frequently missing, and there are errors in subject-verb agreement and preposition usage. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction—ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb—and practice using articles (a, an, the) correctly. You should also aim to combine simple ideas into more complex sentences using conjunctions.
