Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have identified some main features, the report is incomplete; it stops abruptly in the middle of describing the 2013 data. Because the response is unfinished, you have failed to provide a comprehensive overview or a complete comparison of the trends over the decade. To improve, ensure you complete the analysis of all categories and years provided in the chart, and provide a clear, concise summary of the key trends to ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into an introduction and body paragraphs, which provides a basic structure. However, the abrupt ending makes it difficult to assess the overall progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'In 2003', but the transition between sentences is sometimes mechanical. The lack of a concluding section or a fully developed body paragraph hinders the logical flow. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'in contrast', 'consequently') to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the basic meaning, such as 'illustrates', 'frequency', and 'percentage'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as using 'junk food' which is informal and not strictly supported by the chart label 'fast food'. Additionally, the phrasing 'on regular days' is vague and does not accurately describe the data categories. To reach a higher band, try to use more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant proportion', and avoid informal terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'While, there are fewer people eating...' is grammatically incorrect due to the misplaced comma and tense inconsistency. Another error is 'as compared people eating', which lacks a preposition like 'to'. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic sentence construction and ensure that your verb tenses are consistent when describing historical data. Practicing complex sentences will also help improve your range.
