Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response provides a clear overview and selects key features from the chart. You successfully identified the most and least frequent categories and noted the main trends. However, there are some inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you mention the year 2016, which is not present in the provided chart (the data ends in 2013). Additionally, the description of the 'several times a week' category is slightly confusing regarding the specific percentages. To improve, ensure that all data points cited are strictly aligned with the provided graph and avoid inventing years or misinterpreting the timeline. Overall, the task is addressed well, but precision is essential for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'In contrast', and 'However' to guide the reader through the information. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is mostly effective, though the connection between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The structure is sufficient to follow the argument, and the paragraphing is appropriate for an Academic Task 1 response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'maximum proportion', 'fluctuating trend', and 'upward trend'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'reached at almost 2%' (should be 'reached almost 2%') and 'the category of people who prefer to visit restaurant' (should be 'visit restaurants'). While you attempt to use varied vocabulary, some phrasing is slightly unnatural. Expanding your range of reporting verbs and adverbs would help elevate the score. The errors present do not impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'the information in term of percentage' (should be 'in terms of'), 'those who like to eat out every single day was accounted for' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'the proportion of individuals who likes' (should be 'like'). Despite these errors, the meaning is consistently clear, and the punctuation is generally accurate. To reach a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement and refining the use of articles and prepositions.
