Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response attempts to address the prompt but fails to provide a clear overview or a logical selection of data. While it mentions the years 2003, 2006, and 2013, the analysis is fragmented and lacks precision. For example, the statement 'the highest percentage people used to go out for fast food is in 006 qnd 2013' is vague and does not accurately reflect the specific data points shown in the chart. The response lacks a clear summary of trends, and the inclusion of a numbered list to describe categories is not an appropriate format for an IELTS Academic Task 1 report. The response needs to focus on comparing the data trends rather than listing categories.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The organization of the text is weak. The response lacks clear paragraphing, and the transition between ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and often mechanical, such as the abrupt transition 'basically there are six catogoeries'. The lack of logical progression makes it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of the data. Referencing is often unclear, and the structure of the sentences does not support a coherent flow of information. To improve, the student should use clear topic sentences and linking words to connect the data points logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and contains frequent errors in spelling and word choice, such as 'represnt', 'frequincy', 'catogoeries', and 'restuant'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. There is a reliance on basic, repetitive language, and the misuse of terms like 'calls out for fast food' instead of 'frequents fast food restaurants' hinders the academic tone required for this task. The student needs to focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to charts and trends, such as 'fluctuate', 'decline', 'peak', and 'proportion'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('individuals who frequently tends', 'percentage of peoples who likes') and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors that can impede clarity. For instance, 'there are higher number of people who calls out for fast food are i two years' is grammatically incorrect and confusing. The student needs to work on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions to improve accuracy.
