Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response attempts to summarize the data, but it fails to clearly report the main features. The description of the trends is confusing, and the data points are often inaccurate or poorly linked to the years provided. For example, the statement 'the lowest individuals consuming outlets every day' is grammatically unclear and lacks specific data support. The comparison between years is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the trends. To improve, you should clearly identify the highest and lowest categories for each year and use precise data to support your observations rather than vague descriptions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'Initially' and 'Furthermore,' which do not logically connect the ideas presented. Referencing is also unclear; for instance, it is difficult to determine which year or category the phrase 'in some vicinity' refers to. The sentences often lack clear links between them, resulting in a disjointed flow. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'hotels' instead of 'restaurants,' 'vicinity' used incorrectly to mean a percentage or category, and 'proceed food' which is unclear. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. You rely on basic structures and struggle to use appropriate terminology for describing charts (e.g., 'ratio was rose' instead of 'increased'). To reach a higher band, focus on learning specific collocations for describing data, such as 'a significant increase,' 'remained stable,' or 'the most popular category.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('number of individuals are having'), tense usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'which, ratio was rose at 1%'). Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper syntax, making them difficult to parse. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that your verb tenses are consistent when describing past data. Proofreading for basic errors like missing articles and incorrect prepositions is also essential.
