Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response provides an overview of the data, but it fails to effectively highlight the main trends or make meaningful comparisons. The description of the data is fragmented and lacks a clear logical structure. For instance, the report jumps between categories without a cohesive summary of the most significant changes. Furthermore, the interpretation of the data is occasionally inaccurate, such as the claim that the 'Once or twice a month' category escalated in 2013 compared to 2003, which does not align with the provided chart. To improve, focus on grouping data points by trends (e.g., categories that increased versus those that decreased) and ensure the overview clearly identifies the most prominent features of the chart.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay lacks a clear paragraph structure, with most of the analysis crammed into a single, dense paragraph. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes awkward, such as 'To Embark with' and 'Coming t'. These transitions do not flow naturally and hinder the reader's ability to follow the progression of ideas. While there is an attempt to organize the information, the lack of clear paragraphing and the repetitive use of 'in the year' make the text feel disjointed. Improving the use of linking words and separating the overview from the detailed body paragraphs would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'people in the year' are used repeatedly, which restricts the range of expression. There are also issues with word choice and spelling, such as 'escalation' used as a verb instead of 'escalated' or 'increased', and 'upto' which should be two words. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety in reporting verbs and descriptive adjectives prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Incorporating more precise vocabulary related to data trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a marginal increase', would improve the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include '5% people never ate' (missing 'of'), 'prefer o eat' (typo), and 'this data has been same' (missing 'the'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces missing before commas and periods. While the writer attempts to use complex sentences, the control over tense and subject-verb agreement is inconsistent. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic errors and ensuring that sentence structures are grammatically sound before attempting more complex constructions.
