Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. Because the response is only 72 words, it is severely underdeveloped. It fails to report on all the categories shown in the chart (e.g., 'never', 'once a month', 'once a week') and lacks a comprehensive summary of the main features. The analysis is too brief to provide a clear overview of the trends over the decade. To improve, you must describe all data points provided in the visual and ensure you meet the minimum length requirement to allow for a full development of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is divided into very short paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak due to the lack of content. While there is a basic attempt at an introduction and a body paragraph, the lack of cohesive devices makes the text feel disjointed. The transition between the overview and the specific details is abrupt. To improve, you should use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'in contrast', 'consequently') to connect your ideas and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus that contributes to the overall summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You use 'eat fast food' multiple times, which lacks variety. There are also errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'peolple' and 'm increase'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to use synonyms and more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'consumption', 'frequency', 'fluctuated', or 'remained stable'. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs will also help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors that impede the flow of the text. Examples include 'are eat fast food' (incorrect verb form), 'several time a week' (missing pluralization), and 'there is also some people' (subject-verb agreement error). The sentence structures are very simple, and there is no evidence of complex sentence construction. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and pluralization. Additionally, practice incorporating complex sentences using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
