Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the chart, such as identifying the most and least frequent categories. However, the analysis is hampered by significant inaccuracies in reporting the data. For instance, the description of the 'once a week' category is confusing and does not accurately reflect the trends shown in the chart. The overview is present but lacks clarity due to poor phrasing. To improve, you must ensure that the data points cited are precise and that the comparisons between years are logically structured. The report would benefit from a more systematic approach to grouping the data categories to provide a clearer summary of the overall trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is often disrupted by unclear referencing and awkward transitions. Phrases like 'At the fleeting glance' and 'Moving further' are used mechanically and do not always serve to connect ideas effectively. The use of cohesive devices is often inaccurate, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of data across the years. To reach a higher band, focus on using transition signals that naturally link your sentences and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that supports the overall summary.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'highly counted', 'consuming of fast food', and 'a slight decrease caused in 2013'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of the information being presented. To improve, you should focus on using more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable'. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs will also help you convey the trends in the chart more accurately and professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('The given chart provide'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or poorly constructed, which makes the text difficult to read. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often inaccurate, leading to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and using articles correctly. Proofreading for common errors like missing prepositions or incorrect verb tenses will significantly enhance the quality of your writing.
