Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the chart, but the reporting is inconsistent and lacks precision. While you identify the trends for different categories, the data points provided are often confusing or inaccurate (e.g., mentioning 'next year' instead of specific years like 2006 or 2013). The overview is present but lacks a clear summary of the most significant trends, such as the overall decline in daily consumption versus the fluctuations in weekly consumption. To improve, ensure you accurately transcribe the data from the chart and provide a more cohesive summary of the key highlights.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by awkward transitions and unclear referencing. Phrases like 'moving ahead' and 'moving further' are used mechanically rather than to guide the reader through the data. Additionally, the lack of clear subject-verb agreement and punctuation errors makes the progression of ideas feel disjointed. Using a wider variety of cohesive devices, such as 'in contrast,' 'subsequently,' or 'whereas,' would help connect your points more naturally and improve the overall readability of your report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'least' and 'high' throughout the text. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'caliberated in percentile' (should be 'percentages') and 'estimately' (not a standard adverb). To achieve a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated,' 'remained stable,' or 'a significant proportion.' Focus on using words that accurately describe trends rather than repeating simple descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the given chart provide'), missing articles (e.g., 'in USA'), and incorrect sentence structure. The use of complex sentences is limited and often contains errors, such as 'while the least consumption of fast food in restaurant every day in the given period of time,' which is a sentence fragment. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb will significantly improve your score.
