Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarise the data, but the information is presented in a fragmented and often unclear manner. While the main features are identified, the description of the trends is imprecise and lacks a clear, logical structure. For instance, the reference to 'ince eatter' and 'once or twice eatter' is confusing and does not accurately reflect the data categories. The overview is repetitive and fails to provide a clear summary of the overall trends, such as the stability of the 'never' category or the decline in frequent fast-food consumption. The response addresses the task, but the lack of clarity in reporting the data limits the achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the sentences within the paragraphs are often disjointed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'overall' and 'according to the diagram'. The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to track which data points are being discussed. The lack of effective linking words between sentences and ideas results in a disjointed reading experience, which hinders the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains numerous errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'chat' instead of 'chart', 'saveral' instead of 'several', and 'restrorent' instead of 'restaurant'. These errors are frequent and sometimes impede communication, requiring the reader to guess the intended meaning. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the data with precision; for example, using 'eatter' to describe a category of people is non-standard. To improve, you should focus on using accurate terminology for describing trends and graphs, and ensure correct spelling of basic words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include incorrect verb forms ('the bar chat illustrate'), missing articles ('in catagery of'), and awkward phrasing ('on how recently of individuals eating'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the use of a wider range of structures. More attention to subject-verb agreement and sentence boundaries is required.
