Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response provides a summary of the main features of the chart, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you have identified some key trends, the reporting of data is occasionally inaccurate or confusing (e.g., '20% for 20' is unclear). You have attempted to make comparisons, but the overview is weak; stating that categories were 'the same for all the years' is factually incorrect based on the provided chart, which shows clear variations. To improve, ensure you accurately interpret the data points and provide a more precise overview that highlights the most significant trends rather than listing individual figures without clear synthesis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural. Additionally, the progression of ideas within paragraphs is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and unclear referencing. For example, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'amount of few time a year eater' and 'induvials ratio to the restaurant'. These errors occasionally make the text feel repetitive or unnatural. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'proportion', 'percentage', or 'fluctuated', and ensure that your collocations are accurate. The spelling error 'induvials' also detracts from the professional tone of the report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include missing articles ('the frequency'), incorrect verb forms ('people who never ate where the same'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are poorly constructed, such as 'Every day eaters and people who never ate at restaurant were recorded for approximately 5% where in 2003 the amount of eaters were highest'. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound. Reducing these frequent errors will significantly improve the readability of your writing.
