Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear or accurate overview. The information is often confusing, such as the reference to '2026' (which is not in the chart) and the inaccurate reporting of percentages. While the main features are identified, the lack of precision in describing the trends and the misinterpretation of the data points significantly hinder the task achievement. The response lacks a clear, logical summary of the key trends over the decade, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the main findings of the chart.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often misused, such as 'To continue with,' which does not effectively link the ideas. The referencing is frequently unclear, and the progression of information is disjointed. The sentences often lack logical connection, making the text feel like a series of isolated, confusing statements rather than a cohesive report. Improved use of linking words and better paragraph structure are needed to guide the reader through the data.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic phrasing, such as 'craze of eating' and 'same percentage of it,' which is not appropriate for an academic report. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'individual in USA eating fast food.' The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data with precision, and the frequent misuse of terms makes the report sound unnatural and imprecise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are significant issues with verb tenses (e.g., 'will eating'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack a main verb, such as the opening sentence. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces and missing commas. While there is an attempt at complex structures, these are almost always faulty, leading to a lack of clarity. The high frequency of errors makes the text difficult to follow.
