Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarise the data, but it fails to provide a clear overview or highlight the most significant trends. The information is presented in a fragmented manner, and there are inaccuracies in reporting the data (e.g., mentioning 2013 as 20013). The comparison between years is often confusing, and the response ends abruptly mid-sentence, leaving the task incomplete. To improve, you should focus on identifying the most prominent features—such as the most popular frequency of eating out—and grouping the data logically rather than listing figures year-by-year without a clear analytical focus.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While some cohesive devices like 'To commence with' and 'Moreover' are used, they are often applied mechanically or inappropriately. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the abrupt ending of the text significantly disrupts the flow of information. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked smoothly using a variety of cohesive devices, rather than relying on simple transition words at the start of sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'percentage' and 'people'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'restaurents', 'mora', and 'sixti', which detract from the overall quality. The phrasing is often unnatural, such as 'second position grabbed by 2003'. To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'reached a peak', and ensure that you check your spelling carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Subject-verb agreement is a major issue, seen in phrases like 'people who eats' and 'percentage of individuals were'. There are also errors in sentence structure and punctuation, such as the inconsistent use of spaces before and after numbers and the incomplete final sentence. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often inaccurate. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring subject-verb agreement will help improve your score significantly.
