Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarise the data but fails to provide a complete overview. While it identifies some trends, the description is fragmented and incomplete, particularly as the response ends abruptly mid-sentence. The selection of data is somewhat arbitrary, and the lack of a clear, cohesive summary of the main features means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure all categories are clearly described and that the report is finished in full, providing a comprehensive comparison of the trends across the decade.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a logical flow. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the transition between ideas is mechanical and often confusing. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'person who' and 'every time'. The abrupt ending significantly disrupts the coherence of the final section. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus that contributes to the overall progression of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple structures and phrases like 'person who' and 'ate'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'pick highest' instead of 'peaked' or 'the highest', and 'sties' instead of 'stayed'. The range is limited, which restricts the ability to describe the data with precision. To improve, try to incorporate more varied vocabulary related to trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for', and focus on using more accurate terminology for statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Individuals who ate... was had'), incorrect article usage, and fragmented sentence structures. The range of grammatical structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some errors in complex attempts. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the lack of proper sentence termination in the final paragraph. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb.
