Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have attempted to identify some trends, the analysis is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the main features. The data interpretation is inconsistent, and the response ends abruptly mid-sentence, meaning the task is not fully addressed. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the overall trends in the introduction or as a separate paragraph, and ensure all categories are covered with accurate data points. The failure to complete the response prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is poorly organized. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the abrupt ending makes the overall structure incomplete. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic and sometimes mechanical way, such as 'additionally', but the flow of information is disrupted by the incomplete final sentence. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the data is presented in a fragmented manner without clear logical links between the years or the categories. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would help improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'reduced', 'increased', and 'eaters'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'precentage', 'increse', 'approxemelty', and 'inteialy', which distract the reader. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider variety of verbs and nouns to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'declined', 'remained stable', or 'a significant proportion'. Focusing on accurate spelling and using more precise terminology related to data description will significantly enhance your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('majority of people eats') and incorrect preposition usage. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. The incomplete final sentence further limits the demonstration of grammatical range. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and practicing the use of complex sentences to describe trends and comparisons more effectively.
