Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the chart, such as the trends for different frequencies of fast food consumption. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identify the highest and lowest points, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the overall trends. The data presentation is occasionally confusing, such as when you mention 'the last two figures' without clearly defining the categories. To improve, ensure you provide a clear introductory overview and group the data more logically to highlight the most significant changes over the decade.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas, making the text feel like a list of observations rather than a cohesive report. For example, the transition between the discussion of 'once a week' and 'once or twice a month' is abrupt. Additionally, the use of referencing is unclear; phrases like 'the last two figures' are ambiguous. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'in contrast', 'consequently') would significantly enhance the flow and logical progression of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'highest', 'lowest', and 'percent'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'comming', 'higest', and 'persent', which detract from the professional tone required for an Academic Task 1 report. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'peaked', or 'a marginal increase'. Precision in word choice is essential for reporting data accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('everyday eater are', 'it have highest') and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, which makes the text difficult to follow. For instance, 'it is visible that everyday eater are very less in all the given three years it is below five percent' should be split into two distinct sentences. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that your verbs agree with their subjects before attempting more complex structures.
