Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarise the data but fails to provide a clear or accurate overview. The main features are not effectively highlighted, and the descriptions of the data are often confusing or factually unclear (e.g., 'the lowest term eating fast food... also in the year of 2013 and 2006 similar'). The comparison between years is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the trends. To improve, you must clearly identify the most significant trends—such as the shift in frequency over the decade—and support these with accurate data points rather than listing percentages in a way that lacks logical connection.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal logic is weak. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the awkward transition 'In 2006 is the top rank'. The progression of ideas is not smooth, and the referencing is often unclear, leaving the reader to guess which data point refers to which category. To reach a higher band, focus on using linking words (e.g., 'conversely', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') to connect your sentences and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'eating fast food' are used repeatedly, and there is a lack of variety in reporting verbs or descriptive language. Some word choices are unnatural, such as 'lowest term' or 'top rank'. To improve, try to use synonyms and more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'consumption', 'proportion', 'fluctuated', or 'remained stable'. Expanding your range of collocations will help you express the data more accurately and professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('information are changes'), missing articles, and awkward sentence structures ('The bar charts shows in every years'). The range of sentence structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences that lack complexity. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement. Additionally, try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, while ensuring that your punctuation is accurate.
