Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a clear or accurate summary of the data. The description of the trends is confusing, and the figures cited are often imprecise or difficult to link to the provided chart. For instance, the statement 'the highest proportion was recorded at almost 35% in once or twice a month' lacks clarity regarding the timeframe. Furthermore, the response includes irrelevant personal commentary, such as 'the fast food are risky for human health,' which is not required in an Academic Task 1 report. The main features are not clearly highlighted, and the comparison between categories is poorly executed, leading to a lack of focus on the data itself.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. The transition between sentences is often abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the phrase 'Most of restaurant having facility of refreshment so he next highest results' is grammatically disjointed and fails to link the ideas logically. Referencing is also unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the intended meaning. While there is an attempt at an introduction and body paragraphs, the overall structure does not facilitate a smooth flow of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and often inappropriate for an academic report. There is a reliance on basic terms, and some word choices are incorrect, such as 'junk food' (which is informal) and 'refreshment' in the context of restaurant facilities. Additionally, there are errors in collocation and word form, such as 'the last twice options of never, every day figures shows'. The vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data with the necessary precision, and the repetition of basic structures further limits the lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('the fast food are risky'), article usage, and sentence construction. Many sentences are poorly formed, such as 'The chart illustrates that how often individuals ate junk food in restaurants of USA'. Complex structures are attempted but are consistently inaccurate, leading to a lack of clarity. While simple sentences are used, they are often marred by errors, and the overall control of grammar is insufficient to reach a higher band.
