Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the chart but fails to provide a clear overview or highlight significant trends. The description of the data is fragmented and lacks precision; for instance, referring to '1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th data bars' is not an effective way to report information. The analysis is superficial, and the student struggles to accurately interpret the percentages shown in the chart. Key features, such as the most popular frequency or the overall decline/increase in specific categories, are not clearly identified. To improve, you must focus on grouping data logically and providing a clear summary of the main trends rather than listing bars individually.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often inaccurate, such as 'At first bars', 'At seconds data bars', and 'In 3rd and 4th data bars'. These transitions do not flow naturally and make the text difficult to follow. Furthermore, the referencing is unclear, as the reader is often left to guess which data point is being discussed. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', 'Conversely') and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'data bars' and 'outside eaters' are used repeatedly, which hinders the sophistication of the response. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'that became the new fashion' and 'the ratio of every day eater are not much'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuate', 'proportion', 'significant', and 'trend', and ensure that your word choices are precise and contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the ratio of every day eater are not much'), article usage (e.g., 'The study was conducted by USA'), and sentence structure (e.g., 'In last two bars, the shows the data'). The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and pluralization, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms is essential.
