Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. While you have attempted to identify some trends, the analysis is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the data. Several categories from the chart are omitted, and the information provided is fragmented and difficult to follow. To improve, you must ensure you describe all categories shown in the chart and provide a more comprehensive summary of the main features and trends over the entire period. The current length and lack of detail prevent a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks logical organization and paragraphing. Ideas are presented in a disjointed manner, and there is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences or ideas together. The transition between the overview and the specific data points is abrupt, making the text difficult to follow. To improve, you should structure your response with a clear introduction, an overview paragraph, and body paragraphs that group related data points. Using linking words such as 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'consequently' would help improve the flow and logical progression of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, with several spelling errors such as 'frequenty' instead of 'frequently' and 'restudents' instead of 'restaurants'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the trends accurately. You rely on basic phrasing, which hinders the clarity of your report. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'peaked', or 'a significant increase'. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs will also help you convey the information more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with sentence structure, word order, and verb tense usage (e.g., 'the highest people once or twice a month w around 30%'). The lack of complex sentence structures limits the range of your writing. Many sentences are fragmented or grammatically incorrect, which makes the meaning unclear at times. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage. Practicing the use of complex sentences, such as those using 'while' or 'although', will also help improve your grammatical range.
