Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but struggles to identify and report the main features clearly. While it mentions various categories, the description of trends is often confusing or inaccurate, such as stating that 'everyday' users and 'never' users remain between 1% and 5%, which is not clearly supported by the visual data. The overview is weak and lacks a clear summary of the most significant changes or patterns over the decade. The information is presented in a somewhat disjointed manner, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the overall trends in fast food consumption. To improve, focus on identifying the most prominent categories and describing their trajectory clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is frequently interrupted by unclear phrasing and awkward transitions. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore' and 'Nevertheless', but they are often applied incorrectly or do not logically connect the preceding and following sentences. For example, the transition 'However, the several times a week eater...' does not effectively contrast with the previous paragraph. The referencing is sometimes ambiguous, making it hard to follow which data point is being discussed. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the flow of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations, such as 'percentage number of eating fast food' and 'enhances its capacity for eating this'. The student relies on basic phrasing to describe trends, which limits the precision of the report. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more varied and precise terminology for describing data, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'peaked', or 'accounted for'. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and nouns will help you convey information more accurately and professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with article usage ('in USA'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or awkwardly constructed, such as 'the percentage number of eating fast food by the people once in a week and as likely once or twice a week is from 25% to 35%'. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often inaccurate. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring correct subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex grammatical forms would be a beneficial step for improvement.
