Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the response. While you have identified the main categories and provided some data points, the overview is missing, and the comparison between the years is incomplete. You have only described the data for 2003, failing to report on the trends or changes that occurred by 2006 and 2013. To improve, ensure you provide a clear overview of the main trends and compare the data across all three years provided in the chart.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is limited. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas together, making the text feel like a list of observations rather than a cohesive report. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the description of the bars where the terminology is inconsistent (e.g., 'line bar'). To improve, use linking words like 'in contrast,' 'furthermore,' or 'meanwhile' to connect your observations and ensure that your paragraphing follows a logical structure, such as an introduction, an overview, and detailed body paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple structures like 'people who eat.' There are several spelling errors, such as 'fasr' and 'everday,' and some awkward phrasing like 'a few time a year.' The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to use more precise reporting verbs and nouns, such as 'consume,' 'frequency,' 'proportion,' or 'fluctuated,' and ensure you proofread your work to correct basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'in usa' (missing article), 'in between 2003 to 2013' (incorrect preposition usage), and 'there are soo many less people' (awkward construction). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentences. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and incorporating a wider variety of sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or passive voice to describe the data more formally.
