Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the data, but it fails to provide a clear overview or highlight the most significant trends. The information is presented in a fragmented manner, listing figures without meaningful synthesis or comparison. Several data points are unclear or inaccurately described, such as the confusing reference to 'bear about 5%'. The report lacks a cohesive summary of the main features, which is a requirement for Task 1. While the response covers the categories, the lack of analytical depth and the presence of confusing data reporting prevent it from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'Moving further' and 'further more', which do not effectively link the ideas. The progression of information is difficult to follow because the sentences are often disjointed and lack logical flow. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it hard for the reader to identify which year or category is being discussed. The overall arrangement lacks a logical progression, which hinders the clarity of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'frequently of individuals' instead of 'frequency with which individuals' and 'the fast food ate by people' instead of 'fast food consumption'. The phrasing is often awkward, which impedes the reader's understanding. There is no attempt to use less common vocabulary or precise terminology related to data description. The errors in basic word forms and collocations are noticeable and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, missing articles, and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'the fast food was ate by people'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. These errors are frequent and often distort the intended meaning, making the text difficult to read. The range of structures is limited, and the lack of accuracy is a significant issue throughout the response.
