Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. The summary is incomplete, as it only touches upon a few data points and fails to provide a comprehensive overview of the trends or make meaningful comparisons across the years. The description of the data is fragmented and lacks the necessary detail to report the main features effectively. To improve, you must ensure you cover all categories provided in the chart and provide a more thorough analysis of the changes over the ten-year period.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response lacks a clear logical structure. There is no paragraphing, and the progression of ideas is disjointed. Cohesive devices are largely absent, making the text feel like a collection of isolated sentences rather than a cohesive report. The transition between the overview and the specific data points is abrupt. To improve, you should organize your report into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and two body paragraphs detailing specific data points. Using linking words such as 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'meanwhile' would help connect your ideas more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'commanaly' instead of 'commonly', 'centuary' used incorrectly to refer to years, and 'increse' instead of 'increase'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends or data accurately. You need to expand your range of descriptive language, specifically focusing on verbs and nouns related to data trends (e.g., 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'a significant proportion'). Focusing on accurate spelling and using more precise terminology will help improve your score in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., '4 percent people go'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence construction. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring correct word order and subject-verb agreement. Practicing the use of relative clauses and comparative structures will help you move toward more complex and accurate writing.
