Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the chart, identifying the trends for different frequencies of fast food consumption. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you mention the categories, the comparison between years is inconsistent, and some data points are described vaguely (e.g., 'similar proportion change'). To reach a higher band, you should ensure that all key features are clearly supported by the provided data and that the overview provides a more comprehensive summary of the overall trends rather than just listing categories. The inclusion of 'pupils' is an assumption not supported by the prompt, which refers to 'people'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'However'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel forced. The overview paragraph is quite weak and lacks a clear connection to the rest of the report. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. You rely on basic terms like 'eating out' and 'percentage'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'proportion change' and 'figures were... respectively' (when the data does not strictly follow a simple list format). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for'. Spelling is generally accurate, but the lexical range remains limited to the requirements of the task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('percentage of people who eats', 'individuals who never eats') and awkward phrasing ('the chart showing the information in percentage'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and refining your sentence construction to be more grammatically precise.
