Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the prompt by discussing the provided chart on fast food consumption frequencies in the USA. However, the information presented is disjointed, lacks a clear overview, and attempts to list numerous specific data points without a coherent structure. Several figures and dates cited contain inaccuracies or confusion (such as referencing the year 2000, which is not on the chart, and misinterpreting the given data categories). While the student does mention some trends and categories, the lack of accurate reporting, clear comparisons, and a proper summary places the response at this band level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The organization of the text is severely hindered by poor paragraphing and a lack of logical progression. The response begins with a fragmented sentence fragment instead of an introduction. The body paragraph consists of a single, run-on sequence of chaotic data points joined together with weak cohesive devices and repetitive phrases such as 'pupil in year of'. There is no clear overall structure, making it difficult for the reader to follow any logical flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and often misused. Examples include spelling and word choice errors like 'cunsume' instead of consume, 'decrees' instead of decreases, 'resturant', and awkward phrasing like 'very company consume at America in daily basis'. The attempt to use idioms like 'couch potato' is inappropriate for an academic task report. The limited range and frequent errors significantly impede communication and strain the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of poorly constructed, ungrammatical simple sentences and fragmented phrases. There is a complete lack of accurate complex structures. Frequent, systemic errors appear throughout the text, including tense confusion, incorrect prepositions, missing verbs, and improper subject-verb agreement, such as in 'pupil are go in resturant' and 'bar is showing data'. These pervasive errors frequently distort meaning and make the text difficult to parse.
