Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the chart well and makes appropriate comparisons. The writer identifies the most popular eating frequencies, such as once a week or once or twice a month, and contrasts them with the less common categories like eating fast food every day or never. Key data points are correctly cited, such as the peak at around 31% to 34% for eating once a week. While some minor data details could be integrated more comprehensively, the overall overview and reporting fulfill the task requirements successfully, warranting a Band 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall progression. It begins with a suitable introduction, provides a general overview paragraph, and then breaks down specific data points in subsequent paragraphs. Cohesive devices and referencing are generally adequate, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical (e.g., 'Simillarly'). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed body points, resulting in a coherent and logical structure that fits comfortably within the Band 6.0 to 6.5 range.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'domaniating' (misspelled) and 'consumed'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'resturants', 'remaind', 'Simillarly', and 'domaniating'. The range is sufficient to convey the main trends of the chart, but these repeated lexical and spelling inaccuracies prevent the response from achieving a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as relative clauses ('people that ate fast food'). There are several grammatical and mechanical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the fell to 4%'), spelling mistakes, and awkward phrasing ('Individuals around 5% never consumed'). However, these errors rarely impede overall communication, meaning the student successfully demonstrates control typical of a Band 6.0 level.
